If you follow me on Instagram (you can follow here if you don’t), you might have noticed some of my pictures are labeled with: Today I am grateful for:
A few weeks ago, I was having a pisser of a day (and, yes, hormones were involved!). I have a part time job dog walking and that day it was 93 degrees out. Miss Kelly (a beautiful German Shepard) and I were not particularly enjoying the heat, but as we walked I thought, “Man, am I grateful for the trees on this street!”
And, as has happened many times over the years that I have been walking dogs, one thought led to another, and a blog I had run across a while ago came to mind. Zena writes at My Healing Moments. I am not even sure how I found her, but her inspiration has stayed with me. Zena takes photos of thankful moments that are quite beautiful and I encourage you to visit her blog.
So, here I was walking along and my moment of gratitude about the shade and the light breeze lifted my pisser mood. Imagine that (insert sarcastic roll of the eyes here)! Gratitude lists and journals are not new and I have kept them in the past but with my new fascination with photography, I loved the idea of capturing that thankful feeling in a photo.
The photos are by no means profound. Some are super straightforward, like the photo of my tip jar! Can’t get more literal than that.
But some are just pictures of beautiful things that I find as I pass through my day and I use those images to go with the gratitude moment that has chosen that day to brighten my mood, lighten my heart and created some silence in my head! I hope you will follow along with me and perhaps add a few gratitude photos to your own albums. You can use #todayiamgratefulfor in your caption or comments so that others can follow along.
What are you grateful for today? What beautiful thing did you see today that moved you to capture it in a photo? Comment below!
I link up at these great parties!
