Today I’m continuing my series on tips, tricks and ideas for face painting at birthday parties and other special events. The other posts in the series are: tips on using a sponge for face paint, a basic list of supplies, and an easy face painting station.
I created a video tutorial to show some of the simple brushstrokes that you can learn and practice that will add the wow and some great dimension to your face painting designs. I used a #4 round brush and Wolfe brand face paint to demo the brushstrokes.
With practice, the brushstrokes shown in the video will improve any design that you paint. Having a good repertoire of strokes that you can easily apply will also allow you to start creating some of your own designs!
Here are examples of face paint designs using the brushstrokes demonstrated. You can find tutorials for some of the faces here:
As I mentioned in the video, I practice on my arms and legs. You can also practice designs on your face or a friend’s but the constant wiping off of the paint with a baby wipe can be irritating after a while.
