Happy New Year, everyone! Thanks for joining me on my continuing creative journey this year. After a bit of an artistically bumpy 2014, I decided that I was trying to get too many projects off the ground in an attempt to make my artwork provide part of my income. It wasn’t working out as well as I would have liked and the whole process of creating was stressing me out!
It was during one of those crazy moments of trying to do it all that my one little word for 2015 hit me. Create. Spend the year just having fun creating with no goal in mind other than to do art for art’s sake. If an opportunity to make money with the art presents itself, great. If not, just keep playing.
So that’s what I’m going to do, sharing my adventures with all of you here on the blog. I also wanted to take the word create into other areas of my life, so here is what my three versions of create look like:
1. Create art just for the fun of it! Do it because it moves you. Make stuff…
2. Create time for fun with Lee (my hubs), family and friends. Go places, experience new things, see things with fresh eyes.
3. Create a better financial cushion. Do what you have to with pleasure and a smile…with gratitude.
My word for last year was Faith and that is continuing on in the background for this year. It served me well and I feel that it compliments my goals for this year. Without the faith that I am on the right path, I would implode. It keeps me putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward to see what tomorrow will bring.
If you are into podcasts, you might enjoy this episode from Elise Gets Crafty all about One Little Word. If you feel like sharing, I would love to hear if you chose a word for the year and what it means to you. Here’s to a creative 2015!
PS…the art journal page above was made using prompts from the Documented Life Project 2015. I’ll be sharing more about that in a future post.
