I recently stumbled across some YouTube videos from a great art journaler from London, Mike Deakin. I just love his style, sense of humor and accent!
Mike hosts a monthly challenge called Mission Inspiration, along with a Facebook group. I decided to create an art journal page using February’s prompts and also video the process so you can watch me play. The camera stopped at one point but you didn’t miss much!
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. This post also contains affiliate links. The opinions I share are solely my own.
As far as supplies go, I used the 12×12 Whimsy Garden stencil along with flexible modeling paste (similar) to create the tree. I tinted the modeling paste with black acrylic paint to get a gray shade. I also stenciled the wing from one of the butterflies on the stencil onto book paper to create the wings for the page.
I was working in my large Dylusions journal ,and used Inktense pencils, a white gel pen and gel medium (similar) to glue all the magazine pieces. The stamping that was missed in the video used Simon Says Stamp Cobblestone inkpad, along with a couple phrases from the Lovely Spring stamp set and this homemade stamp.
Finding the words and letters for my quote took forever! I can’t imagine trying to do this for a ransom note! I ended up stamping the words “become” and “remind” just to end the torture.
In the end, however, I love the page and it was great fun to follow the prompts. I’ll definitely be doing the challenge next month!
