I have a thing about turning down the pages of a book to mark your place. I can’t do it! I will use ANYTHING as a bookmark not to fold down the page. So what happens when my pet peeve meets a nine year old avid fisherman who like to read? Update: he is now 16 years old and still obsessed with fishing!
I started with scraps of watercolor paper and my inexpensive set of watercolors to create a flounder, a trout and one that I’m pretty sure I made up!
I cut the fish out with scissors and then laminated them (using this laminator) so that they would last longer in the hands of a nine year old. All three fish fit in a standard 8.5×11 laminating sheet. I then cut the fish shapes out again from the sheet.
I poked a small hole in the fishes’ mouths with a book awl and attached my faux lures with a jump ring. The “lures” were made with left over beads and fishing line.
