It seems that I DID need permission to play! I started off this year with fabulous intentions to create just for the fun of it (you can read about my one little word for 2015 here). But, as it happens for many of us, I started to get in my own way.
I put too much importance on the projects I was making and it started to drain the fun out of creating.
I took a hard look at why I love art and what I could do differently to bring back the sheer joy of adding color to a page.
As I’ve learned many times, if you ask the universe for help, you’ll always find it! And, yes, sometimes it is not the answer we want but maybe it is the answer we need.
My answer on how to find more play in my art came in the very welcome form of Carolyn Dube from A Colorful Journey. She recently released a free online workshop called Permission to Play. How was that for serendipity?
The art journal pages (as well as the journal itself) you have been seeing were created based on the workshop. Some of the pages are finished and some remain a work in progress. All were extremely fun to make!
This workshop is perfect for beginners; for those that want some fun back in their art journaling; for those that are creatively stuck. Really, it is just a great way to play with your art supplies with no expectations…just have fun!
And, Carolyn is giving you this Permission to Play for FREE! This is a great holiday gift to give yourself during this stressful time of year. Take some time for you to just play!
