As we move more into the new year, it seems that I have the need to keep some more general greeting cards on hand for both happy and sad events that are popping up on my calendar.
Events such as birthdays, baby and bridal showers, new jobs, sickness and deaths of loved ones can often prompt us to reach out to our friends and family with a card that expresses either our happiness or sympathy.
With a few such events in mind, I gathered together some blank cards and a stack of stencils to create my greeting cards.
All of the cards started off with a piece of scrapbook paper or Gelli® printed deli paper glued on as a background. I then added stenciling and doodles, sometimes a word.
For this card, I used the 6×6 Organic Matter Mask with blue acrylic paint over the scrapbook paper, then added some white gel pen doodles. I finished it off with the word Happy stenciled with black paint (6×6 Word Association) on a piece of cardstock that I then attached with pop dots. I edged the card with a black ink pad.
The scrap of paper background for this card was made using a variety of stencils during a Gelli® printing playdate! It is always great to have some of these deli paper prints on hand to add to projects.
The Doggies stencil was perfect for this card and gives me the option to send it for a new puppy, a pet’s birthday or the death of a family’s best friend. A few doodle marks after the stenciling completed the card.
Another Gelli® printed background gave this simple design a bit of texture. A single word (12×12 Word Association) stenciled over the deli paper leaves the occasion for this card open to your imagination. And, of course, I had to add some doodles for the finishing touch!
Yet another deli paper print went on first for this card. Then, burgundy ink through the 6×6 Thoughts stencil, turquoise acrylic paint through the Daisy Splash 6×6 stencil, followed by white gel pen doodles. Now you have a pretty card just perfect for a birthday or a note to a special friend.
My final card started with a piece of scrapbook paper in this fabulous shade of green. The 6×6 Butterfly Collage stencil added a lovely element to the left side with the word Peace coming from the 6×6 Word Association stencil. And, more doodling!
Now, I have a small collection of all occasion cards to pull from this month for any events that might pop up. Giving a handmade card is such a wonderful way to share your art and I know that the recipient will love it!
