My husband and I recently had to attend the funeral of a dear family friend and, as I find myself doing lately, I turned to my art to deal with some of the emotions that such an event can bring up.
Taking step by step photos was a bit beyond me for this project. So instead I set up my video camera to capture my process for you.
Making the card was a great way to work through my feelings and connect with the memories of my friend. This is one of the great tools creatives have…the ability to use art as a way to work out our thoughts and emotions through pictures, words, colors, doodling, stenciling, etc. For me, it lessens the stress and bring a bit of peace.
I used the following Crafter’s Workshop stencils: Mini Cathedral of Love, Mini Flying Garden and Word Association. Acrylic paints and makeup sponges added all the colors, and the final doodling was done with a Micron pen and a white gel pen.
I hope the video and project give you some ideas for creating your own greeting cards. Is there an occasion coming up that you can make a custom designed card for? The recipient will love that you made the effort!
I link up at these parties!
