While out looking for inspiration on the web, I came across this lovely lady, Carolyn Dube from A Colorful Journey. She is a mixed media artist who loves to work in multiple layers. She offers her readers a monthly newsletter in which she includes a “Spark of Art-spiration”. You can find out Carolyn’s definition of a “Spark of Art-spiration” here and sign up for her newsletter in the sidebar of her blog.

Here was the spark for February….exactly as it came in my email.feb_sparkOnce I printed it out, I started rotating the paper and discovered that the “hole” in the top section of orange looked like a heart to me. I used a black fine tip Sharpie and doodled for a bit to see what other designs I could incorporate. One of the great things about the sparks is that you can print them out multiple times to play with them, changing them each time. When I felt like I was going in a direction I liked, I printed the spark on white card stock and made a couple birthday cards for my girlfriends. birthday_sparkI love the result and they did too! I encourage you to sign up for Carolyn’s newsletter because we can all use a little Spark of Art-spiration to jump-start that next big idea!

What do you see in the Spark above?
