I had a chance recently to play with a set of Chameleon Pens to create some fun art. Today I thought I would share one of my go-tos for some serious stress relief, the mandala.
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. This post also contains affiliate links. The opinions I share are solely my own.
I used the fabulous Chameleon Pens and one of the new Crafter’s Workshop stencils, the 6×6 Daisy Chain. By adding in some freehand doodling, I was able to create a bright, colorful mandala!
I started by tracing the outside of the stencil with a pencil. I also added a few marks to partition off the different designs on the stencil.
The next step in my plan had me adding in each of the primary colors of the Chameleon pens to create sections of gradated color. Because I was attempting to fill in pretty large areas, I did add the Toning Medium to each of the brush tips for at least 40 secs.
I then placed the stencil back on my circle of color and used the bullet nib of the black pen to trace some of the openings in the stencil. This is a great way to make each mandala you create unique. There are so many fun designs within this one stencil, that I could choose to trace a different set to make a completely different affect!
By then adding in some of my own freehand doodling using both the brush and bullet nibs on the black pen, I was able to finish off this fabulous piece of art in my journal. The Chameleon Pens are a great addition to your pen and marker collection! The gradated color adds a totally new aspect to creating backgrounds. Thanks for joining me while I played with these fun pens!
