My niece and I live on opposite sides of the US. I’m on the east coast; she is on the west. Because we can’t play with art supplies together, I decided to make a friendship art journal for the two of us to share back and forth through the mail.
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. This post also contains affiliate links. The opinions I share are solely my own.
To make it easy for my niece to get started, I created a variety of pages for her to play around on using some of my stencils in three different ways.
I also used the 6×6 Tribal Fish stencil to accomplish the same idea. Now, my niece has some fun spaces to doodle in or add more color with gel pens.
The second way I used the stencils was to paint a colorful scene using a variety of acrylic paints, a few makeup sponges and the 6×6 Aquarium stencil. This will be a cute page to add even more underwater life to, perhaps even a mermaid!
Before I share the third way, here is a bonus idea…stencil words from the 6×6 Life Words stencil onto cardstock and cut them up into little tags that can be added to any art journal page!
The third and final way I used the stencils was to create coloring pages by outlining the designs of a few of my favorites with a Sharpie pen! Here I traced the 6×6 Joyful Sunflower, taping it down to the page to keep it steady.
The 6×6 Triangle Sunburst stencil will be a blast to color in! It would make a perfect place to learn all about the color wheel!
I can’t wait to see how my niece decides to add to the pages I started for her. I’m also looking forward to seeing what she starts for me to work on! This is the perfect solution for getting to know an artsy friend or family member better!
