I love the visual texture and layering that adding letters to a mixed media project can give but haven’t found a stamp that was random enough to give me the look I wanted. So I figured, why not make my own jumbled alphabet stamp!
You can’t get more random than the stamp above! Here’s how easy it was…
I found this alphabet stamp set at Target. It is not the best quality but I wasn’t looking to make actual words so that didn’t matter.
After pulling apart all the blocks, I glued them back together with E-6000 and let my new stamp dry overnight.
As you can see the letters are pointing in multiple directions giving the stamp the random pattern I was looking for. My first use for the alphabet stamp was on my handpainted zipper pouches that I made in May. It is a great addition to the layering process.
I also used the jumbled alphabet stamp with some larger individual letter stamps. Together they created the illusion of letters falling back into space. I love the effect! Such an easy DIY project that I can now use in my art journal, to make cards or as embellishments on more of my canvas creations!
PS…You can find more zipper pouches just like these for sale in my Etsy store.
