What a crazy summer it has been so far. Life seems to be in fast forward so I turned to one of my favorite ways to quiet my mind and de-stress…doodling.
The two pages took a few hours to complete but by working a little each day, I was definitely able to slow down a little with my hectic schedule.
I started the whole design off with the Striped Flower Circle stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop line and some Tumble Dye
spray in neon green. On the left side of the page, I sprayed directly through the stencil. I then flipped the wet stencil over onto the right side of the page to print the design.
With a Sharpie
pen, I loosely outlined most of the shapes that the spray and stencil had created.
I then added Tumble Dye neon pink through the same stencil. This time I sprayed through the stencil on the right page and flipped the stencil to print the design on the left page…lining up the stencil as best I could. Let this part be messy and loose!
To add more pops of color to all the shapes I used two of my favorite supplies…Inktense pencils
and a waterbrush
.
Then the doodling part began! I started with the individual flowers and shapes first, leaving the background to the end.
The only tools I used to doodle with were a Sharpie
pen, a PITT big brush pen in black
and a white gel pen.
Once all the main parts of the design were filled in, I used a simple swirl pattern in the background to tie all the elements together. I absolutely LOVE how it came out! And, bonus…the goal of de-stressing was accomplished…as least for now! What’s your favorite way to de-stress?
PS…I was working in this journal.
I link up at these parties!
