With half of 2015 over, it seemed like a good time to do a check-in with myself and some of the goals and intentions I set this year.
As the year has progressed, a mantra of sorts has emerged. My one little word from 2014, faith, keeps popping up, adding itself to this year’s word, create. My intention for this year was, and still is, to create just for the sake of having fun and getting my art out of my head! And, for the most part, that is happening. I am creating more than I have in a long time and truly enjoying the process.
By letting myself step back from continually searching out ways to make a living RIGHT NOW with my art, opportunities have presented themselves. Yeah, love how that works. It seems going with the flow of just creating has allowed doors to open I might not have thought to look behind.
I still do find myself looking for ways to bring in income…it is just how my brain works! But, by repeating this mantra, I can remind myself that the art must keep happening, that I need to keep on this journey, that I don’t always need a plan.
I feel that I’m on the right path but there are no shortcuts on this journey. It is long and winding, ever changing, with surprises, good and bad. I just need to keep showing up, go with the flow of that winding road, have faith about what’s around the next curve, and most of all keep creating.
Let’s see what the rest of 2015 brings! Do you have a mantra that is guiding you? Share it with us below…
PS…I used a Sharpie, Faber-Castell PITT big brush pen in black
and a white Signo Uni-Ball gel pen to make this page in my Canson sketchbook
. You can find more “fancy” lettering here.
I link up at these parties!
