With half of 2015 over, it seemed like a good time to do a check-in with myself and some of the goals and intentions I set this year.

Mantra or quote to remind me to keep on this creative journey! • #lettering #quote #doodlingAs the year has progressed, a mantra of sorts has emerged. My one little word from 2014, faith, keeps popping up, adding itself to this year’s word, create. My intention for this year was, and still is, to create just for the sake of having fun and getting my art out of my head! And, for the most part, that is happening. I am creating more than I have in a long time and truly enjoying the process.

Mantra or quote to remind me to keep on this creative journey! • #lettering #quote #doodlingBy letting myself step back from continually searching out ways to make a living RIGHT NOW with my art, opportunities have presented themselves. Yeah, love how that works. It seems going with the flow of just creating has allowed doors to open I might not have thought to look behind.

Mantra or quote to remind me to keep on this creative journey! • #lettering #quote #doodlingI still do find myself looking for ways to bring in income…it is just how my brain works! But, by repeating this mantra, I can remind myself that the art must keep happening, that I need to keep on this journey, that I don’t always need a plan.

Mantra or quote to remind me to keep on this creative journey! • #lettering #quote #doodlingI feel that I’m on the right path but there are no shortcuts on this journey. It is long and winding, ever changing, with surprises, good and bad. I just need to keep showing up, go with the flow of that winding road, have faith about what’s around the next curve, and most of all keep creating.

Let’s see what the rest of 2015 brings! Do you have a mantra that is guiding you? Share it with us below…

PS…I used a Sharpie, Faber-Castell PITT big brush pen in black and a white Signo Uni-Ball gel pen to make this page in my Canson sketchbook. You can find more “fancy” lettering here.

I link up at these parties!

super art and thoughts behind it!! I too am always thinking of ways to bring in income with my art but have only gotten as far as some private commissions. And that’s OK because I too am enjoying the ride of just creating and going with the flow of my creativity-without restrictions!

Thanks, Linda. Yes, being OK with what is currently happening with my art is definitely what I’m striving for. That’s hard some days!

  • Christine July 17, 2015 at 8:56 pm

Glad you have some inspiring words to keep you going for the rest of the year! How about…be kind, let go of what you can’t control, I’ve found those helpful at times.

    • Consie Sindet July 21, 2015 at 9:29 am

Those words are great, Christine and certainly timely for the week I am having! Thanks for sharing them with me!

Love your message, and absolutely love your lettering!! Just amazing!

It’s so true! Yes it’s difficult to not think just create, basically when you have a day job and can’t yet concentrate only for your passion, but as long as you take time for creating, you’re on the right path. It has to come naturally, and it also helps releasing stress, express your feelings, or only to feel well creating. I’m with you!:) Did you have success with the canvases? I wished you a lot of luck to help.:)

    • Consie Sindet July 21, 2015 at 9:31 am

The canvases haven’t sold yet but that’s ok. I loved making them and plan to do more. Thanks for all the luck sent my way! 🙂

Thanks for the inspiration. I need to remember that I have to sell more because I am a daily painter and have tons of inventory right now! LOL.

Always love your posts Consie, and love decorative lettering. I’m not able to hold pens/pencils for very long and have hard time typing anymore so have had to give up on some things i used to enjoy doing. Doggoned arthritis has twisted some of my fingers and have no strength in hands, no feeling in fingertips either. Getting old and paying for mistakes made when younger doesn’t make it fun to grow older. Have nerve damage in right arm from roll over accident in 98 which is getting worse.
Enjoy your art, you are very talented, it’s good you express your art and don’t let it linger in your head and heart, expressing your art, letting it out is who you are. Happy weekend

Thanks so much, JaneEllen! I have been finding myself painting with my fingers more than brushes! Maybe that might work for you as well!

    Grazie e tanto amore

Oh I’m hopeless at lettering but you have certainly mastered it.
Thank you for sharing and now I’m going to practice my lettering now that you’ve inspired me ;D
