I needed a gift for my neighbors and decided a regular old 6 pack holder just wouldn’t cut it. It is amazing what a little paint will do!
I’ve saved a few of these 6 pack holders from the recycling bin, but I also discovered that my local liquor store has plain white ones that they use when boxes are damaged. They were kind enough to give me a couple to play with!
But for this gift, I started with a recycled 6 pack and added a quick coat of white primer.
I then used an old credit card to scrape dabs of FolkArt acrylic paint all over the cardboard. I really love the layering effect that happens. It does help to let each color dry but because you are using such a small amount of paint, that happens quickly.
To add some texture and pattern over my colors, I used black paint and bubble wrap to make dots. The tiny white squares are made by using joint tape as a stencil with some white paint. The inside of the 6 pack holder was painted with black and I used black and white fabric spray paint to jazz it up a bit.
All I had to add was my neighbors’ favorite beverages! This 6 pack holder would be great fun to take to a BYOB BBQ this summer. Just use what you have on hand to decorate your own! The possibilities are certainly endless.
I link up at these great parties!
