I recently shared how I have fallen in love with the Documented Life Project and what it has brought to my life…a successful way to create a to do list! Today, I thought you might like to see what I have been up to with the weekly challenges that are a part of the project.
Challenge: Ask someone else to draw on your page – finish it.
After I laid down a watercolor background, my BFF, Kristine added the sunflower and spider in the corner and my husband, Lee added the old man sun. I finished it off with a quick Tuscan doodle.
Challenge: Monochromatic: use shades, tints and hues of one color!
For this one I decided to use blues to represent my dual citizenship with the US and Barbados. I started with decorator paste and added the stars with a stencil. The waves were made with a palette knife. Turquoise and navy shades of acrylic paint added the color with a little Sharpie doodling to outline the words.
Challenge: Add a cardboard food box in a creative way.
The background was done with acrylic paints and an old driver’s license…just scraped the color all over the page! The farm scenes are my box addition…they are from a K-cup box. Since I was on the coffee theme, I also used the tops from a couple K-cups to form the center of the flowers.
Challenge: Photograph or draw your favorite shoes.
I don’t get to wear these shoes often…I am more of a flip-flop, sandal, sneaker kind of girl! But I love them! They have green roses and skulls all over them and were a gift from my favorite guy. I was bored one night and painted the design on my leg to match the shoes!
I am so enjoying my planner now that I can add all these fun elements to it. I look at it multiple times a day and that has helped with keeping my to-do list front and center! I’ll share more of my pages as the year progresses, so stay tuned!
