#28patterns 650 325 Consie Sindet

One of my favorite bloggers, Blazer Designs, added a fun challenge to Instagram for the month of February…make a pattern everyday using whatever you like. The hashtag is #28patterns if you would like to follow along and see what everyone is making.

Pattern challenge on Instagram: watercolor; doodling; stamping • AtopSerenityHill.com #doodling #mixedmedia #28patternsI have been making all of my patterns on 3.5″x4.75″ watercolor sheets that came in a pad I found in my stash and have used all sorts of supplies to make the designs! Left: watercolor background; stamped circles with a handcarved stamp; Micron pen doodles; Signo Uni-ball white gel pen highlights. Right: handcarved stamp; Micron pen doodles; shading with a Stabilo pencil and waterbrush.

I’ll have a pretty collection of cards when I’m done and have a fun idea of how to use them to decorate my studio! Stay tuned…

Consie, I think these designs are fantastic. How long did it take you to make each card front? I know when I doodle even one card, it can take me about 2 hours!!! Also, I wanted to let you know that I ordered my own set of Signo white pens based on your recommendations! I finally had it with the sakura gels that are brand new (almost) and yet don’t work. I store them point down and I scrub and scrub them on junk paper and nothing comes out! frustrating!

Lastly, I am curious about your Stabilo pencil. I have Prisma color pencils, Faber Castell water color pencils, Generals drawing pencils, and Koh-i-noor pencils in a range of leads. Could any of these do the same as your stabilo? I used the black FC watercolor on one of my art journal pages recently, to outline my hearts, and it looked great.

Keep up the great work and thanks, as always, for sharing with us! I am deeply inspired by you!

Thanks, Lucie! Some of the cards I did in about 15 minutes, some a bit longer. They are pretty small so that definitely plays into the time I spend. In my regular sketchbook, with is about 8×10, I can spend a couple hours on a doodle.
You will love the white Signo! Glad you were able to get them.
The Stabilo pencil is a waterbased pencil so your FC watercolor pencils are a perfect substitute. If I want to make sure that the black shading can’t be reactivated with water, I’ll use my Inktense pencil instead. I pretty much just use whatever is within reach on the table! Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Valerie. This is been a really fun challenge. I’ve been trying out some different products, hence the lack of a theme! Lol!

I love the patterns you made! I only managed a few until now, but they are a few more than nothing I think! Happy PPF – Irma

Oh my I just lost 15 minutes just staring at your art work. It is beautiful, the heart one looks like the hearts are coming off of the page. That would take me forever to do. Is it peaceful when you do it?

Thanks, Ray! Yes, I do find it peaceful to doodle and create the patterns. Most just take about 15 mins but that is because the pages I’m working on are tiny!

Love all of your patterns – especially the carved stamp ones. I’ve been trying the challenge but have missed a few days. Fun to play with pattern.
